Player Story

Pakistan one-day international captain Misbah-ul-Haq has represented his country at one previous ICC Cricket World Cup and the 2015 tournament will be the first time he has captained his team at the event.

Since making his international debut in 2001, the batsman has earned a reputation as a composed player able to play the big shots when required.

Inconsistency earlier in his career meant he had limited international opportunities between 2003 and 2007.

It was 2011 when Misbah truly established himself.

He played eight matches during the 2011 World Cup and his best knock, an unbeaten 83, helped his team to an 11-run win over Sri Lanka.

With more than 4600 ODI runs under his belt and with an average above 40, 40-year-old Misbah remains a danger to opposing teams.

His Test statistics are also prolific – in 53 matches Misbah has scored 3736 runs at an average of 49.15, including eight centuries.
