Bio

Left-arm paceman Nick Winter has been plucked from the ACT Comets to represent the South Australia Redbacks for the 2013/14 season.

The 17 year old was a dominant force in the Toyota Futures League, which saw him win Player of the Year at the end of year awards.

The young gun featured in four games for the Comets last season, and looked impressive everywhere he went.

Winter started the season with a bang against the NSW Blues with a powerful all-round display. He was a constant threat with the ball, finishing with 3/94. He then backed it up with a swashbuckling innings of 51 that included a stack of boundaries.

After an economical display against Victoria, Winter returned to the headlines with another monumental effort with ball in hand.

The ACT junior revelled in his return to Queanbeyan, where he destroyed some of his future teammates at the Redbacks.

Winter ripped through their line-up with a fiery spell of 4/34, and must have caught the eye of South Australian selectors, because the 17 year old was signed up one game later.

The youngster will benefit greatly when he joins the South Australian squad later this year. With plenty of raw talent behind him, coach Darren Berry will be hoping that his new paceman can develop into a future spearhead of an already promising attack.
