Bio

If Rahul Dravid had been born in another era Sachin Tendulkar would be compared with him. Instead Dravid, the trusty lieutenant, is measured against a man nobody except Bradman has been able to conquer.

After 157 Tests, Dravid sits in second place on the all-time Test run list with 12,775 and is currently seventh on the one-day charts, having appeared in more than 350 ODIs.

Australia have restricted Dravid to an average of 41, almost 12 runs less than his career mark, but he has hurt them on memorable occasions. In Kolkata in 2001 his 180 and a double-century to VVS Laxman earned victory after they followed on. His 233 in Adelaide two years later ensured another hugely satisfying victory.

Like Tendulkar, Dravid is a former captain, but has enjoyed concentrating on his batting and continues to be a huge threat in his 39th year.
