Robin Peterson’s one-day international career stretched across more than 14 years since the Port Elizabeth native made his debut against India in 2002.
At times struggling to cement his place in South Africa’s Test and ODI teams, the left-arm orthodox bowler was in good from during the 2011 World Cup, where he became a regular member of the attack and finished the tournament as the Proteas’ leading wicket-taker, including best figures of 4-12 against Bangladesh.
Peterson was a useful lower-order batsman for his country at World Cups, with crucial knocks against Sri Lanka in 2007 and India in 2011 helping South Africa to narrow victories.
He fell out of favour with the selectorsin 2014, but was brought back into the squad after Aaron Phangiso was ruled out of November’s Australian ODI tour with a sprained finger.
Peterson finished his international career with 38 wickets from 15 Tests, 75 wickets from 79 ODI's and 24 wickets from 21 T20I's.
