Bio

Sean Willis appears to be one of the most promising rookies coming through the ranks in Australian domestic cricket.

While the 18 year old has played a handful of games for Tasmania in the Futures League, it has been his form with the Australian under-19 squad that has caught the eye of plenty of people who matter.

Cricket Australia National Talent Manger, Greg Chappell, has already praised Sean’s mental strength and tactical nous.

Willis burst onto the scene during the tour to New Zealand earlier this year. He made 111* in the three day tour match at Lincoln, before starring again in the second youth ODI. Coming in at first drop, he looked at ease in seam friendly conditions, finishing unbeaten on 68 as Australia won with 31 balls to spare.

His ability to control an innings became more evident in the Top End with another big ton against Papua New Guinea. Coming in at 5/122 in the 31st over, Willis bludgeoned the hapless minnows to every part of the ground. His 110* came off just 75 deliveries, and included 12 boundaries and half a dozen sixes. Suffice to say he was an easy choice for man of the match.

Such an impressive start to his career suggests Willis is on track to become a future star for the Tigers.
