Thanks to a perfectly twirled moustache, Shikhar Dhawan has become a recognisable face to cricket fans around the world.

The 29-year-old toiled away in first-class cricket for six years before finally earning his call-up to India’s one-day international side in 2010. He made a debut he would rather forget, dismissed for a duck, but when he had his second chance in the national side eight months later he made up for it with a maiden fifty.

His Test debut did not come until 2013 but when it finally came Dhawan did it in style smashing 187 off 174 balls against Australia.

Now a regular member of the one-day side, Dhawan is maintaining an average above 40 and has a collection of tons and fifties to his name.

The soft-spoken left-hander starred for India in their first ODI against Sri Lanka in early November, putting on an ominous display of form ahead of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015.

He followed that with 79 from 80 balls and 91 form 79 balls in the next two matches.
