Bio

An allrounder who combines tidy left-arm orthodox spin with some dashing stroke play, Steve O’Keefe made an instant impression on his first-class debut in 2005, getting off the mark with a six.

He made his international debut in T20 cricket against Pakistan in 2010, taking 3-29 in a losing cause and was also a part of Australia’s Test squad during that same tour.

He then took 4-88 and scored 66 for Australia A against England at the start of the 2010-11 season before he drifted from the national consciousness.

He continued to put in several good performances in domestic cricket, including an impressive all-round display for Sydney Sixers in the 2012 Big Bash League final, before his bowling at first-class level really began to blossom.

He took 24 wickets in 2012-13, a season that was dominated by pace, and topped the wicket tally the following year with 41 victims at 20.43 as the Blues won the title.

It earned him selection for Australia’s Test tour of the UAE to face Pakistan in 2014, nine years after he made his first-class debut.
