Profile

Born in Williamstown, Victoria, Cameron has solidified her place in the Commonwealth Bank Southern Stars team since she made her debut in 2009 just before the ICC Women’s World Cup in Sydney.

Cameron was a crucial member of the 2012 winning ICC Women’s World Twenty20 squad where she was named player of the final. An aggressive batsman, she hit an impressive 45 runs of 33 balls, helping her side post a competitive score of 143, which England were unable to chase down. It was the second time Cameron has hoisted this trophy, having been a part of the Commonwealth Bank Southern Stars’ that claimed the title in 2010 in the West Indies.

Cameron is regarded as one of the best fielders in women’s cricket internationally and is renowned for taking spectacular catches. In her one Test Match, Cameron helped the Stars to re-claim the Ashes, a victory she lists as a career highlight. She scored 30 in the first innings and also took four catches across both innings.

Cameron played her junior cricket with Seabrook and Barrabool and now plays club cricket for Plenty Valley when she’s not representing the VicSpirit in the WNCL and WT20.

Off the field, Sog, as she is known by her teammates, is an INXS fan and a die-hard St Kilda supporter and can also be found on Twitter @Jess_Cameron27.
