A talented player all his life, Wade earned his first international cap for the T20 side on the back of outstanding domestic form for Victoria.
Wade finally got his chance to debut at Test level when Australia travelled to the West Indies. It was a terrific tour for the keeper, whose 106 was the only century scored by an Australian all series.
Three Tests into his career, and Wade looks like a secure player for the future. A healthy batting average, and improving work with the gloves means his job should be safe for the Summer.
His form in ODI’s and T20 has been solid, with the Victorian excelling for both state and country. Able to bat anywhere in the order, Wade is a valuable asset to have no matter the situation.
With the pressure of selection off his back, this could be a breakout year for Wade. Unlike Brad Haddin, he is unlikely to be compared to Adam Gilchrist every match he plays.
Six centuries in First Class cricket suggests he can handle the varying conditions across Australia, not just with the bat, but behind the stumps as well.
While he has had success throughout his career, Wade has faced several challenges over the last six months. A tough series against the No. 1 ranked Test team and a difficult tour of India should work in Wade's favour as he continues to develop his game.
