Profile

Pat Cummins is the future of Australian cricket; as long as he can stay on the park. There are few bowlers who have shown more potential at such a young age than Cummins.

At just 19 years of age, Cummins has already travelled the world with Australia and his KFC T20 Big Bash League side the Sydney Sixers.

Cummins became an instant sensation when he was seen bowling at around 150 km/h for his Grade club Penrith at the tender age of 17.

NSW was quick to sign up to their already growing list of talented seamers. Cummins gained terrific insight from former Australian speedster Brett Lee, who mentored the young tearaway during the inaugural Big Bash tournament.

His 11 wickets at an economy rate of just 6.59 made him one of the hottest properties in world cricket, and he virtually forced his way into the Test team for the tour of South Africa.

In his one and only Test, Pat Cummins showed just how good he is. An incredible 6/79, including the wicket of Jacques Kallis had cricket tragics in awe. To cap off the five star debut, Cummins also came in with the Aussies in trouble, and hit the winning runs in a tense end to the match.

Another strong showing in the CLT20 tournament in South Africa showed off his talent to the rest of the world, as he helped the Sixers win their second Champions League trophy.

Sadly for the young quick, injuries have plagued his career, and he has once again been ruled out for the entire Australian Summer with a side strain. When he does get his body right, there is no guessing how far he can go.
