Peter Siddle contributed one of the few highlights for Australia last summer, claiming a hat-trick in the first Vodafone Ashes Test in Brisbane. Siddle removed Alistair Cook, Matt Prior and Stuart Broad to spark wild celebrations. Unfortunately those celebrations were few and far between after that.
Siddle played hard and tough last season, bending his back with aggression as the only bowler to play in all five Vodafone Ashes Test matches. Siddle claimed two six wicket hauls throughout the series, including 6-75 on his home soil at the MCG.
He returned to the DEC Victoria Bushrangers once his international duties were fulfilled, finishing the season with 32 wickets at 23.37. His love affair with the ‘G continued, taking 6-89 against New South Wales in mid-February.
Siddle is a key member of Australia’s Test pace attack, with his experience and fiery attitude important in a team that will likely display some new faces in the short term.
