Smith has been around the Commonwealth Bank Southern Stars squad for a while, however her work commitments have impinged on ability to be regularly available for selection.
Those work commitments have relaxed more recently and Smith was again a contracted player.
The 32-year-old Victorian made her debut for the Commonwealth Bank Southern Stars in 2000 against England in Sydney and has since played 62 matches for her country often opening the bowling with her right-arm seamers and ability to swing the ball.
