A member of the successful Commonwealth Banks Southern Stars victorious ICC Women’s World Twenty20 side in 2010, Elyse Villani has earned the opportunity for another national call-up ahead of the ICC Women’s World Cup India 2013.
A hamstring injury saw the Victorian spend the majority of the 2011-12 season on the sidelines. However, she reminded everyone of her skills with the bat when she scored 75 off 83 balls in last season’s WNCL Final against New South Wales.
In a bid to add more variety to her game, Villani travelled to the UK during the off-season to play for Staffordshire and work on her off-spin bowling. This could be the asset she needs to regain her position in the national team.
