Victorian Jess Cameron has cemented her place in the Commonwealth Bank Southern Stars side with consistent performances since making her debut in 2009 just prior to the ICC Women’s World Cup in Sydney at the age of 19.
Cameron has enjoyed great success with the national team, having made a name for herself on the international stage at big events. She helped hoist the ICC Women’s World Twenty20 trophy in the West Indies in 2010 and was a crucial member of the side that won the same title in 2012.
In the 2012 final she hit an impressive 45 off 33 balls, which earned her the Player of the Match award. In her second ICC Women’s World Cup in India in 2013 she made history as the only male or female player to win the Player of the Final award in both a 20-over and 50-over World Cup.
Cameron is also regarded as one of the best fielders in women’s cricket internationally and is renowned for taking spectacular catches. In her first Test Match against England in 2011, she helped the Australia re-claim the Ashes, a victory she lists among her career highlights to date.
Her dominance at international level was recognised following the 2012-13 season when she claimed the Belinda Clark Award for the best international Australian women’s player that season.
