The Fury have bolstered their squad with the surprise inclusion of Kate Blackwell. The former NSW batsman hasn’t played for three years; instead focusing on her studies.
Her most recent season – 2009/10 – was a bleak one, but prior to that, Blackwell had been a star for her country.
After making her debut in 2004, Blackwell went on to play 41 ODIs for Australia; many of those alongside her identical twin sister, Alex.
Blackwell managed four Tests for Australia, scoring a career best 72 against England in 2005.
The 30 year old relished the introduction of T20 cricket, and finished her six game international career with a sparkling average of 39.66.
After missing out on selection for the 2009 World Cup, Blackwell reached double figures just once in her final 10 matches for NSW.
It will be interesting to see how the Wagga Wagga local comes back from her three year hiatus.
