Profile

Shaun Marsh is part of cricketing royalty in Australia, with his father Geoff, and brother Mitch, both playing for the national side.

Shaun has always been regarded as one of the most naturally gifted top-order batsmen in the country.

Marsh burst onto the scene with an incredible 2007/08 that saw him top the run charts in almost every tournament he played in. He led the way for WA in the ING Cup with 318 runs, while he accumulated 663 runs in the Pura Cup at an average of over 60.  Marsh then went to India for the IPL, where his 616 runs at 68 saw him finish as the competition’s leading run scorer.

Marsh was rewarded with a spot in the ODI side, where he dominated in the 37 matches he played. Eight half centuries and two big hundreds showed that he could handle the international stage.

A back injury saw him miss several months of cricket, and the injury seemed to affect him on the field, as he had a torrid time in Australia’s series win against India in 2011/12.

17 runs at an average of just 2.67 made it hard for selectors to stick with the left-hander, and Marsh hasn’t played since.

While he hasn’t appeared in the Test side since 2012, Marsh has been working hard in domestic competitions to win his spot back.

The KFC T20 Big Bash League launched the second coming of Shaun Marsh. The 29 year old dominated the tournament, finishing with a staggering 16 sixes. His form for the Scorchers also saw him top the charts again with 412 runs at 58.86.

Marsh then backed up his T20 from with a fluent 155* (the highest score in his ODD career) against the Queensland Bulls.

Marsh is currently playing in the IPL for the Punjab Kings XI, where he has already produced scores of 77 and 73.

A prodigiously talented player who has what it takes to again don the baggy Green.
