Voges tips Mitch Marsh run-fest

Australian allrounder Mitch Marsh doesn't need to find his mojo because he never lost it in the first place.

That's the opinion of West Australia coach Adam Voges, who is confident Marsh will soon be among the runs again.

Marsh endured a tough Test tour of the UAE, scoring just 30 runs across four innings against Pakistan.

The 27-year-old was surprisingly left out for the upcoming three-match ODI series against South Africa, starting in Perth on Sunday.

But his omission has given him the perfect chance to get battle hardened for this summer's four-Test series against India.

Marsh will play up to three Shield fixtures before the Test series starts, and Voges is backing the WA skipper to perform strongly with the bat.

And Voges was quick to point out that Marsh was hardly out of form in any case.

In early September, Marsh scored an unbeaten 113 playing against India A, and he followed that up with 162 against Pakistan A four weeks later.

"I went down and saw him hit some balls on Tuesday in the nets, and I don't think there's anything technically wrong at the moment," Voges said.

"He scored 162 in the lead-up game (to the series against Pakistan).

"So two bad Tests - I'm sure he would have been disappointed. But it all happens very quickly.

"What he has now is a great opportunity to lead WA and hopefully put some good performances on the boards, because come the Test summer he's going to be a very important player."

Marsh's older brother - Shaun Marsh - used his own return to Shield ranks last week to save his Test spot.

Shaun Marsh scored 80 and 98 in the seven-wicket Shield win over Tasmania, and he'll be aiming to continue his hot form in the ODIs.

WA take on Queensland in a Shield match at Allan Border Field, starting Saturday.

Mitch Marsh's return offsets the loss of Shaun Marsh, but the Warriors also lose Marcus Stoinis to international duties.

Queensland are yet to win this Shield season, and will be desperate to snare an outright victory on home soil.
