Beaumont happy to be on Aussie pair's team

After witnessing the form of Megan Schutt and Amanda-Jade Wellington first-hand during the Women's Ashes, Tammy Beaumont is rapt to be on their team in WBBL|03

After coming face to face with Australia stars Megan Schutt and Amanda-Jade Wellington during the Women's Ashes, Adelaide Strikers opener Tammy Beaumont is just glad they're on her side in the Rebel WBBL.

England import Beaumont was dismissed four times by Schutt and Wellington – two times apiece – from eight innings during the multi-format Ashes in October and November.

In the second ODI in Coffs Harbour, Beaumont found herself trapped in front by seamer Schutt for eight runs, before being stumped off the South Australian's bowling in the following one-dayer – albeit after scoring a superb 74.

Then in the day-night Test at North Sydney Oval she twice fell victim to wily leg-spinner Wellington - the second time to a ripping delivery that drew comparisons with Australia legend Shane Warne.

Wellington's ripping leggie does for Beaumont

Schutt in particular was in prodigious form throughout the Ashes, a run of form Beaumont is happy to now find herself on the right side of since linking up with the Aussie pair at the Strikers, who are undefeated after their opening two matches of Rebel WBBL|03.

"They did well in the Ashes against us and I'm really glad to be on their team again and not have to get out to them," Beaumont said in the lead-up to the weekend's WBBL action, which will see the Strikers play the Melbourne Renegades twice in Glenelg.

"There are a few really strong squads out there, the Sixers and Scorchers have pretty stacked line-ups but on our day Suzie Bates and Sophie Devine can both clear the ropes at will … and we can't look past Schutt and Wellington."

Sharp Schutt goes bang in Coffs Harbour

Beaumont is no slouch herself, named player of the ICC Women's World Cup in the United Kingdom earlier this year for her exploits at the top of the order.

She made a bright start to her WBBL|03 campaign last weekend, scoring a 39-ball 43 against the Hobart Hurricanes on Saturday before being dismissed for three against the same opposition the following day.

"It was nice to get a few on Saturday, I'm still working on my game and trying to improve really."

The 26-year-old will be hoping to give the Strikers a strong start when they meet the Renegades, who boast an improved line-up this season after recruiting Jess Duffin and Emma Inglis from the Melbourne Stars, Amy Satterthwaite from the Hurricanes and signing Sri Lanka star Chamari Atapattu.

Beaumont knock cut short by Wellington ripper

"The Renegades are a different team this year, they're recruited really well. They've got the two Kiwis in Satterthwaite and (fast bowler) Lea Tahuhu, I think we'll see some pace at Gliderol from Tahuhu and get some around our ears."

The Strikers have made one change to their squad for the weekend’s clashes, with medium-pacer Katelyn Pope coming in for Annie O’Neil.
