Boland ruled out with broken hand

Fast bowler fractures hand while playing for Australia A in Townsville

Australia A quick Scott Boland has suffered a fracture in his right hand and could miss the remainder of the Quadrangular A Series in Queensland.

Boland, who has played eight ODIs for Australia, injured his hand yesterday as Australia A wrapped up a clinical 10-wicket win over the South Africans in Townsville.

Boland bags Dhoni as first ODI wicket

The Victorian paceman was 12th man for the series opener in Brisbane last week but came into the side for the second match and claimed two second-innings wickets before injury struck.

"Scott Boland sustained a low grade fracture of the right hand on the final day of the four-day match in Townsville," said Bupa Support Team physiotherapist Kevin Sims.

"Scott will return to Melbourne for further medical review.

"We will then decide whether he re-joins the squad for the back-end of the Quadrangular A Series for the one-day and four-day matches."

Boland will not be replaced in the squad for the upcoming one-day series against India A, South Africa A and the National Performance Squad in Townsville and Mackay.

Reid presents Paris, Boland ODI caps

It has been a breakout year for the 27-year-old, who made his ODI and T20I debuts in January after impressing with Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash League, and touring New Zealand and West Indies with the national side.

Australia A batsman Jake Lehmann will also leave the squad, joining Yorkshire as a replacement player for South Australian teammate Travis Head, who joined the Australian squad for the Qantas Tour of Sri Lanka earlier this week.

Every match of the Australia A winter series will be live streamed on cricket.com.au and the Cricket Australia Live App.
