Brisbane Ashes match a sell-out

Allan Border Field set to make history as the first venue to host a sold-out women's Ashes match

History will be made in Brisbane next month after Cricket Australia today confirmed Allan Border Field is a sell-out for the October 22 Commonwealth Bank Women’s Ashes ODI.

The match between Australia and England has sold out with more than three weeks still remaining before the clash, a feat made even more significant given this is the first time tickets have been sold to women's cricket in Australia.

Cricket Australia CEO James Sutherland was incredibly pleased with how the fans in Brisbane have responded.

"This is the first time that AB Field will host the Women’s Ashes," Sutherland said.

"With the boutique nature of the ground and promise of world-class cricket from the two highest-ranked teams in the world, it’s the perfect venue to launch the summer of international cricket, and fans in Brisbane should be proud of their efforts.

Aussie Women on the importance of the Baggy Green

“The interest in women’s sport is at an all-time high and the anticipation is growing ahead of what will be a historic series with the Australian Women’s team to be part of the first ever day-night Ashes Test match.

“We have high expectations and ambitions for this series and it’s exciting that we are leading the way in showing that cricket is as much a sport for females as it is for males,” he said.

Fans who can’t make it to the matches can purchase a Cricket Australia Live pass to watch every match or catch the ODIs and T20s live and free on the Nine Networks.

Tickets to the remaining Commonwealth Bank Women’s Ashes matches are still available for just $10 for adults and $5 for concessions*, while kids can get in for free^.

Each match of the series will also support a nominated charity or the local cricket community, with two dollars from each adult and concession ticket being donated. Details on how to buy tickets are available at www.cricket.com.au/tickets.

*At match price. $2.95 per transaction ticket agency fee applies to purchases elsewhere.
