Pakistan chasing nine more wickets

Bangladesh still require 487 runs to win with two days remaining in second Test

Pakistan are nine wickets from achieving what would be a thumping victory in the second and final Test against Bangladesh in Dhaka, with the home side requiring 487 runs to win.

Bangladesh are 1-63 chasing 550 after Pakistan skipper Misbah-ul-Haq opted not to enforce the follow on when his side led by 354 on the first innings, having bowled the hosts out for 195 earlier in the day.

Yasir Shah (3-58) and Wahab Riaz (3-73) scythed through the Bangladeshi order with only Shakib Al Hasan offering any strong resistance in making a quick-fire 89. In doing so, he moved past 1000 runs at Shere Bangla National Stadium, making him the first Bangladesh player to achieve that feat at one venue.

Misbah then chose to bat a second time, and it was the captain who top scored with 82 from just 72 deliveries after the pursuit of quick runs saw top-order wickets fall quickly, Pakistan slipping to 4-107 before the ship was steadied.

Mohammid Shahid took two wickets for Bangladesh but at 6-195 the lead had grown to 549.

In reply, Bangladesh lost Imrul Kayes for 16, bowled by Yasir, and the tourists will look to seize their sizeable advantage with two days still remaining in the contest.
