Australia wicketkeeper Brad Haddin says Pakistan batsman Ahmed Shehzad should keep his hands to himself following the pair’s heated exchange in the one-off T20 in Dubai on Sunday.
Haddin gave Shehzad a mighty spray after the opening batsman caught a return throw from mid-on in the second over of the match, preventing the 37-year-old keeper from catching it himself.
When asked about the confrontation, Haddin said he’s still confused as to why Shehzad decided to field the throw.
"They had the opportunity to bowl first,” he said, “if he was that keen to field they should have bowled first.”
"Mate, I don't know why he touched the ball, we were out there fielding.
"It's not his place to touch the ball.
"If he wants to grab the ball he can go stand at short cover or short mid-wicket, can't he?
"It's not his place to touch the ball when we're fielding. They get their chance.
"If he wants to go and do extra fielding with the coach to get his hands on the ball so be it. But he doesn't need to grab it when we're fielding.”
The incident did no favours for Shehzad, dismissed for a sluggish 10 from 20 balls by debutant leg-spinner Cameron Boyce.
