Lynn unavailable for Bulls' one-day campaign

Queensland coach Wade Seccombe has confirmed star batsman Chris Lynn will not take any part in his side's 2019 Marsh One-Day Cup campaign.

Lynn was expected to have missed a large chunk of the tournament due to his involvement in the T20 Euro Slam, however since that event has been cancelled, he is instead opting to make himself available for other domestic competitions around the world.

"We won't have Chris Lynn," Seccombe told cricket.com.au. "He's going to be concentrating on T20 stuff."

Cricket.com.au understands Lynn is primarily targeting the Afghanistan Premier League that runs through October, and in which his Brisbane Heat teammates Ben Cutting and Mujeeb Ur Rahman both play.

He is also believed to be eyeing the UAE-based T10 League that runs from November 14-24. Lynn was last year named to play in the latter tournament alongside fellow 'Bash Brother' Brendon McCullum at Rajput, but ultimately withdrew.

This year's Marsh One-Day Cup campaign is scheduled across three separate windows, beginning on September 21 and culminating in the final on November 26.

Lynn was the leading run-scorer in last year's one-day domestic tournament in Australia, hammering 452 runs from seven matches, with two hundreds and three fifties and at a strike-rate of 117.70.

The right-hander was on the fringes of Australia's ODI squad at the time and went on to play three matches against South Africa last November. However, he was dropped after returns of 15, 44 and 0, effectively ending his bid for a World Cup place.

The 29-year-old, who has learned to manage a chronic left shoulder problem by taking a more cautious approach in the field, is now setting his sights on the T20 World Cup, which will be hosted by Australia in October-November 2020.

"I'd love to be a part of it," he told News Corp in July. "(I want to) try and dominate the Big Bash like I did a couple of years ago."

Lynn's record in T20 Internationals is only modest in comparison to the impressive resume he has built plying his trade in the world's many T20 domestic competitions. In 18 T20Is, he has made 291 runs at an average of 19.40 with a highest score of 44.

Queensland have strong cover for the T20 superstar in their one-day squad, with a host of top-order batting talent set to be jostling for places.

"Last year it was (Sam) Heazlett and (Max) Bryant at the top of the order," Seccombe said. "We're going to get (Usman) Khawaja back into the mix, and (Marnus) Labuschagne. You've got Joe Burns and Matt Renshaw, so there's plenty for us to pick from."

The Bulls' first match is against New South Wales at Brisbane's Allan Border Field on September 22.
