Former South Africa allrounder Rory Kleinveldt has taken a season-best 9-65 for Northamptonshire on day two of their County Championship clash with Nottinghamshire on Wednesday.
Kleinveldt's devastating spell was his greatest first-class bowling return - eclipsing his previous best figures of 8-47 - as he claimed his 20th first-class five-wicket haul of his career.
The powerfully built seamer has taken 48 wickets this season and his nine-fer was the best Division Two bowling performance since Northamptonshire teammate Rob Keogh's 9-52 last year.
Kleinveldt also claimed the first two wickets of Notts' second innings, meaning he'd accounted for 11 of their first 12 wickets, as they had to face a nasty 14-over spell before the close of play.
Nottinghamshire were 2-33 at stumps on day three chasing 314 for victory.
Meanwhile, Australia's George Bailey made an impressive 89 as he helped Hampshire to a competitive first innings total of 254.
Bailey smashed 13 boundaries in his crucial knock, while former England batsman James Vince also made a half-century.
Surrey's Kumar Sangakkara made his eighth Division One century this season, playing one of his trademark shots through the off-side to bring up the milestone.
Sangakkara became the first player since Marcus Trescothick in 2009 to register eight first-class centuries in a single season.
The Sri Lankan legend, who will bow out of first-class cricket at the end of this season, has the chance to add to his 1369 runs for this county campaign, as he returns to the crease tomorrow unbeaten on 119.
