Australian cricketers both past and present have taken to social media to say thanks on Mother’s Day.

Australia vice-captain David Warner, who is currently captaining Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League, sent his best wishes to his mother Lorraine from afar, also paying tribute to his wife Candice, who is mother to Ivy Mae and Indi Rae.

While a wrist injury cut short Australia skipper Steve Smith's IPL campaign with Rising Pune Supergiants, it did allow him to spend some quality time with his mother, Gillian, before he jets off on the Qantas tour of the West Indies at the end of the month.

Happy Mother's Day to my lovely mum. Thanks for everything. I love you.

Commonwealth Bank Southern Stars wicketkeeper Alyssa Healy and opener Nicole Bolton also shared special messages on Instagram.

Have a great day @alizampa
