Christian's hectic trans-Atlantic week

Dan Christian has managed to be in the thick of the Twenty20 action on both sides of the Atlantic in the space of just four days.

Having led Nottinghamshire to the English domestic T20 title on Saturday, the Australia allrounder turned up in the Caribbean on Tuesday (local time), earning a last-minute call-up for the Trinbago Knight Riders’ Caribbean Premier League finals campaign in place of an injured Brendon McCullum.

Despite the fact he’d only just touched down in Trinidad, Christian didn’t appear to be hampered by jet lag when he snared a spectacular running catch in the outfield to send in-form St Kitts and Nevis Patriots opener Evin Lewis on his way for six.

But he wasn’t able to help Trinbago secure a direct path into the CPL final, trapped lbw by Mohammed Hafeez for four, with St Kitts bowling the Knight Riders out for 111 to secure a 38-run win.

Trinbago will now meet the winner of tomorrow’s elimination final between Jamaica and Guyana to the opportunity to take on the Patriots for the CPL title.

It continued a busy week for Christian, who captained Notts Outlaws to the T20 Blast title on Saturday.

Christian’s spectacular late cameo of 24 not out from eight deliveries ultimately proved the difference as the Outlaws held on to beat Birmingham Bears by 22 runs to win the Blast for the first time at Edgbaston.

But things didn’t quite go to plan for the allrounder, who received the biggest hit of the day on the podium when the trophy was accidently shoved into his face.

Christian saw the funny side of it, later tweeting a photo of himself complete with his medal and black eye.

The 34-year-old’s next stop after the CPL will be India, where he'll join Australia’s T20 squad for three matches in October.
