Hurricanes strike triple deal

Hobart secure three more signatures as club builds towards BBL|05

Hobart Hurricanes have signed trio Clive Rose, Timm van der Gugten and Michael Hill for BBL|05.

Batsman Hill and allrounder van der Gugten both wore the purple last season and will return for the coming summer alongside key acquisitions Kumar Sangakkara, Shaun Tait and Dan Christian.

Quick Single: Sangakkara joins Hobart for BBL|05

Hill showed Hurricanes fans what he is capable of with a knock of 64 against eventual BBL|04 Champions Perth Scorchers at Blundstone Arena last summer whilst van der Gugten, who debuted on New Year’s Eve last year, has recently represented the Netherlands in Amstelveen and Rotterdam and will look to cement a place in the Hurricanes team in BBL|05.

Left-arm orthodox spinner Rose is based in Hobart and said he is looking forward to playing for his adopted state in all formats after previously playing with the Melbourne Stars.

“I’m really excited about signing with the Hobart Hurricanes and I’m looking forward to being amongst the atmosphere at Blundstone Arena when the Hurricanes play a home match, as I have never played a BBL match at Blundstone Arena before,” he said.

“The squad coming together is looking really strong and I can’t wait to be around experienced international players like Darren Sammy and Kumar Sangakkara.”

The Hurricanes were BBL|03 finalists and again look to be building a formidable squad, with fan favourite George Bailey also recommitting to the club last week.

Quick Single: Hurricanes land Bailey in new deal

Hurricanes Membership will go on sale on July 1 2015 and the BBL|05 fixtures are expected to be released in the coming weeks.
