'Canes commit to Milenko and Hepburn for BBL|07 and WBBL|03

Hobart Hurricanes have announced the re-signings of Simon Milenko and Brooke Hepburn for the upcoming KFC BBL and Rebel WBBL seasons.

Milenko took career-best figures of 3-25 against Adelaide Strikers in BBL|06 and is enthusiastic about the prospect of working with former South Africa batsman Gary Kirsten in this season's Big Bash.

McDermott with one of the greatest T20 knocks

"It's exciting to have someone of Gary's pedigree on board to lead the Hurricanes," he said.

"He's very optimistic about the team having success and no doubt he'll bring a fresh outlook to the way we approach T20 cricket.

The allrounder says the changes within the Hurricanes' coaching ranks and administration allow for a positive feeling heading in to this campaign.

"I'm excited to see where we can go with these changes and extremely hopeful the playing group can go all the way to our first BBL trophy."

Meanwhile, the Hurricanes will be buoyed by the re-signing of Hepburn for WBBL|03, as she looks to continue her form from last season.

The medium-pacer took 11 wickets from 14 appearances last Women's Big Bash season and was a key component in the 'Canes reaching the semi-final, but conceded a lack of consistency hurt the team in the end.

"Last season was a mixed bag. We had some really thrilling wins both at home and away but overall I think we struggled to find our consistency in the tournament which ultimately led to us bowing out in the semi finals," Hepburn said.

"This year our sights will definitely be set on taking out the tournament. We know what to expect from WBBL now - you need to be performing at your best in every match to give the team the chance to make it to the finals."

The Hurricanes commence WBBL|03 against Adelaide Strikers at Gliderol Stadium in Adelaide on December 9, while the men host Melbourne Renegades at Blundstone Arena on December 21 to start their BBL|07 campaign.
