Ferling makes the move to Melbourne Stars

Fast bowler heads south after three seasons with the Brisbane Heat

The Melbourne Stars have announced the signing of pace bowler Holly Ferling ahead of the fourth instalment of the Women’s Big Bash League.

After playing 25 matches for the Brisbane Heat, Ferling makes the move to the Stars with 17 wickets to her name, including best figures of 4-8.

The 22-year old said she was excited about starting a new chapter at the Stars.

“I’m really looking forward to coming down to Melbourne this summer and joining such an exciting club,” Ferling said.

“It was a tough choice, and I’d like to thank the Heat for the past three seasons.

“I’m excited about the opportunity to play in Melbourne alongside a few of the Stars girls I’ve played with through the national team and I’m eager to see what we can achieve this season.”

Which teammate will dominate this summer?

Stars captain Kristen Beams said Ferling was a welcomed addition to the line-up and would bolster the team’s bowling stocks.

“We’re very happy to have Holly on board. She’s a great fit for the club, both on and off the field and we have no doubt that she will help us push for finals,” Beams said.

In addition to the signing of Ferling, the Stars has also confirmed the re-signing of Georgia Elwiss, Mignon du Preez and Erin Osborne.

Bowler Gemma Triscari has announced her retirement from the WBBL while Anna Lanning and Hayleigh Brennan will also not return to the Stars for the coming season.

“We’ve been busy pulling our list together over the past few months and we’d like to welcome Holly to the Club. It’s great to have her along with Georgia, Mignon and Erin who have all re-committed,” Melbourne Stars Chief Executive Officer Clint Cooper said.

“Personally, I would also like to thank foundation players Gemma, Anna and Hayleigh for their services to the Club and wish them well for the future.”

The Stars will open their WBBL campaign on Saturday, December 1 when they take on the Sydney Sixers in front of a home crowd at CitiPower Centre.
