Cricket.com.au's Top 10 IPL 2016 stats

1 – The number of hat-tricks in the tournament, by Kings XI Punjab’s Axar Patel against Gujarat Lions at Rajkot.

3 – The number of hit wicket dismissals in the tournament. On all three occasions, the Hyderabad batsmen – Yuvraj Singh, Deepak Hooda and David Warner - were at the receiving end. There wasn’t any such dismissal in the previous three editions of the tournament.

6-19 – The best bowling figures of the tournament, Adam Zampa's 6-19 against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Vishakhapatnam.

17 – The fastest fifty of the 2016 Indian Premier League. Chris Morris and Kieron Pollard both reached the milestone off 17 balls for Delhi Daredevils and Mumbai Indians respectively.

24 – The number of players used by Rising Pune Supergiants in the tournament, the most by any team.  

26 – The number of most consecutive balls played without a dot in an innings, by AB de Villiers against KXIP at Mohali. 

38 – The number of sixes hit by Virat Kohli, most by anyone in the tournament and 26.76 percent of Royal Challengers Bangalore’s maximums. 

43 – The fastest of the seven hundreds scored in the tournament. AB de Villiers did it in 43 balls for Royal Challengers Bangalore against Gujarat Lions at Bangalore.

229 – The partnership between AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli for RCB against Gujarat Lions, not only the highest of the tournament but also a world record.

1013 – The number of minutes Virat Kohli spent on the crease in the tournament. In 16 innings his stay on the crease was for 1013 minutes (nearly 17 hours), an average of more than one hour per match. To put things in perspective, the innings duration in T20s is one hour and 25 minutes.

2 – The number of players who opened the batting and the bowling in the same match - Chris Gayle against Hyderabad at Bangalore and Murali Vijay against Hyderabad at Mohali.

6.90 – The economy rate of Mustafizur Rehman, the best for any bowler in the tournament with at least 20 overs.

7 – The number of hundreds scored in the tournament, most in an edition of the IPL.

9 – The number of bowlers used by Royal Challengers Bangalore against Gujarat Lions at Bangalore. It is the most any team has used in a match in all the IPLs.

9.62 – The batting run-rate of RCB in the tournament, highest for any team. They scored 2981 runs off 1858 balls.

10 – The number of times David Warner ended up as top scorer of the innings for Hyderabad. He batted 17 innings and ten of those were as the team’s best batsman. 

10 – The number of consecutive matches Sunrisers Hyderabad wicketkeeper Naman Ojha played without conceding a bye. In 17 matches in the tournament he conceded just one bye.

16 – The number of matches Mustafizur Rahman played without batting at all. In whole tournament he didn’t get the chance to lay bat on ball. No other batsman in IPL history has more than eight games without batting.

17 – Ishan Kishan’s age (17 years and 268) on his debut, the third youngest to make IPL debut and the youngest player in the 2016 tournament.

18 – The number of sixes Shane Watson conceded in the tournament, most by anyone.

21 – The extras conceded by Shane Watson (20 wides and a no-ball), the most by a bowler in the tournament.

21 – The lowest Powerplay (overs 1-6) total in the tournament, by Mumbai Indians against Kings XI Punjab at Vishakhapatnam.

21 – Sanju Samson’s age (21 years and 183 days) when he completed 1000 runs, making him the youngest to the milestone among 52 batsmen who have 1000 IPL runs.

23– Quinton de Kock’s age (23 years and 122 days) when he registered hundred against RCB in Bangalore, the second youngest after Manish Pandey [in 2009] to score maiden hundred in the IPLs.  

23 – The runs RSP required in the 20th over against KXIP at Vishakapatnam. RSP won the match, thanks to MS Dhoni, making it the highest total a team has successfully chased in the 20th over in the IPLs.

23 – The number of wickets taken by Bhuvneshwar Kumar, most in the tournament.

24 – The most expensive 20th over of the tournament, by Shane Watson for RCB against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final. Also the most expensive 20th over in the history of tournament finals.

29 – The number of matches after which Jasprit Bumrah took a catch. Between IPL 2013 and 2016, he had gone 29 consecutive games without grabbing one. The unwanted streak was broken when he pouched Karun Nair off Harbhajan Singh at Vishakhapatnam. 

30 – The highest over of the tournament. Two bowlers Dwayne Bravo and Shivil Kaushik of Gujarat Lions bowling 18th and 19th over conceded 30 each against RCB in the same innings.

32 – The average age of Gujarat Lions’ playing XI (32 years and 73 days) against RCB at Rajkot, the oldest ever team to play an IPL match.

48 - The slowest fifty of the 2016 edition, two batsmen – Shikhar Dhawan and Murali Vijay (twice) – scored it off 48 balls for Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kings XI Punjab respectively.

54 – The number of fours Bhuvneshwar Kumar conceded in the tournament, most by anyone.

72 – The highest Powerplay (overs 1-6) in the tournament, by Gujarat Lions (twice) against RCB and Rising Pune Supergiants.

88 – The number of fours David Warner hit, most in the tournament and most by a batsman in any T20 tournament in the world.

92 – The lowest total of the tournament, by Mumbai Indians 92 all out in 16.3 overs against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Vishakhapatnam.
