IPL squads forming following auction

The IPL auction is done and dusted and the squads have been updated

Australia allrounder Shane Watson wasn't the only player to be sold for big money during Saturday's Indian Premier League auction, with a host of other local and international players also receiving a huge pay day.

While Watson received the highest bid at the auction - he was sold to Royal Challengers Bangalore for $1.98 million - it was a pair of Indians and a South African that attracted similar money.

Indian youngster Pawan Negi was sold to the Delhi Daredevils for $1.79 million, while the same side also snapped up Proteas allrounder Chris Morris for $1.46 million.

Sunrisers Hyderabad paid the same amount for veteran batsman Yuvraj Singh, while fellow Indians Mohit Sharma ($1.37 million to Kings XI Punjab) and Ashish Nehra ($1.1 million to Sunrisers Hyderabad) were also sold for big money.

FIVE BIGGEST SALES AT IPL AUCTION

Shane Watson to Royal Challengers Bangalore for $1.98 million – An IPL veteran who has excelled for his country in the 20-over game of late. The 34-year-old made an excellent 124 not out against India in January that showed he still has what it takes to make an impact at international level.

Pawan Negi to Delhi Daredevils for $1.79 million - Negi is a talented left-arm orthodox spinner who can also contribute with the bat. The 23-year-old is often hard to score off and has often been used as a pinch hitter early in the innings.

Chris Morris to Delhi Daredevils for $1.46 million - The South African is somewhat of a Twenty20 specialist, who has represented suspended franchises Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals in previous IPL seasons. Bowling fast medium pace, Morris is a wicket-taker that can also provide valuable runs with the bat in the lower order.

Yuvraj Singh to Sunrisers Hyderabad for $1.46 million - The left-hander was picked up what will be his fifth IPL side, having already represented Kings XI Punjab, Pune Warriors India (defunct), Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Daredevils in previous years. Yuvraj is a powerful T20 batsmen, who can also bowl some more than handy left-arm orthodox spin.

Mohit Sharma to Kings XI Punjab for $1.37 million - The former Chennai Super Kings paceman took 23 wickets during the 2013 IPL season and has since turned out for his country on eight occasions in the T20 format.

There were plenty of players that missed out at the IPL auction, with 2015 leading ODI run-scorer Martin Guptill and in-form Australian Usman Khawaja among those that went unsold.

Other Australians to miss out were Mike Hussey, Cameron White, Brad Haddin, James Pattinson, David Hussey, George Bailey, Shaun Tait, Joe Burns, Nathan Lyon, Adam Voges, Sean Abbott, Ashton Agar, Jackson Bird, Cameron Boyce, Nic Maddinson, Michael Beer, Ben Dunk, Ben Laughlin, Aiden Blizzard, Michael Klinger, Tim Ludeman, Alex Ross and Cameron Bancroft.
