Six sixes in 10 balls completes T20 heist

Darren Bravo and Brendon McCullum chase down victory target of 86 in just 32 deliveries in CPL clash

Darren Bravo hit six sixes in just 10 balls as his Trinbago Knight Riders stole victory in an extraordinary night in the Caribbean Premier League.

Chasing 86 to win from six overs in a match shortened by multiple rain delays and a power outage, the Knight Riders triumphed with four balls to spare as Bravo (38no from 10 balls) and Brendon McCullum (44no from 14) hammered nine sixes and five fours between them.

Trinbago's run rate of 16.50 an over is the second-highest recorded in a completed T20 match and came after St Kitts skipper Chris Gayle, who himself slammed eight sixes in scoring 93 from 47 balls, had helped set a seemingly impossible victory target.

Bravo walked to the middle with the Knight Riders on 2-34 at the start of the fourth over and he promptly hit his first three deliveries, off the bowling of Windies teammate Samuel Badree, over the rope.

Gayle launches eight sixes in entertaining 93

A dot ball and a single handed him the strike at the start of the next over and, after another dot, he and McCullum combined to hit Afghanistan spinner Mohammad Nabi for 23 off his over and reduce the victory target to 10 required from the last over.

And Bravo wasted little time in finishing the job, launching Jonathan Carter for consecutive sixes and holding his pose for the cameras as he watched the match-winning six sail over the media pavilion and into the practice nets.

Gayle had earlier helped St Kitts to a total of 3-162 from 13 overs, a victory target that was reduced even further when one of several rain fronts hit the capital Basseterre.

The win has extended Trinbago's lead at the top of the CPL standings to three points ahead of St Kitts having lost just one of their eight matches.
