Blues, Tigers play out a draw at SCG

Matthew Wade posts a century but rain ultimately wins out in NSW v Tasmania clash

NSW and Tasmania have meandered to a draw on the final day of their rain-affected JLT Sheffield Shield match at the SCG.

Matthew Wade scored an unbeaten 108 as Tasmania reached 4d-489 in response to NSW's 8d-449 before an early finish was called with two hours of play remaining.

Wade posts his second consecutive Shield hundred

Tuesday's result does little to enhance either team's prospects of winning a ticket to the final, with Tasmania pushed out of second place on the ladder and NSW slipping to fourth.

With the best part of two days lost to rain, Tasmania had little trouble seeing off an unlikely home victory on the final day against an attack lacking penetration.

Webster's marathon innings nets him a career high

Beau Webster contributed 102 of Tasmania's overnight 2-240 and dismissed for 136 just before lunch in a defiant 354-ball knock.

In-form No.4 Jake Doran fell early in the day for 97 off the bowling of spinner Steve O'Keefe (2-80) as the sun finally broke through.

Ben McDermott made the most of the conditions to score 75 not out in an unbroken stand of 152 for the fifth wicket.
