Thunder Strikers washed out

Constant showers in Sydney forced the game between the Sydney Thunder and Adelaide Strikers in Sydney to be washed out

Persistent showers throughout Friday saw the Rebel Women’s Big Bash League match between Sydney Thunder and Adelaide Strikers at Penrith’s Hovell Oval abandoned without a ball being bowled.

While rain eased enough at one point for the covers to be removed, a return of the showers ended any hopes of play, with each team awarded one point under the WBBL|02 rules.

Both teams had registered one win from two games in the tournament thus far and are scheduled to face off again on Saturday at 2pm AEDT.

The Thunder will be looking to build on Tuesday’s thumping win over the Melbourne Stars, while the Strikers will be looking to return to their winning ways after going down to the Melbourne Renegades last Sunday.

There will also be three other matches during a packed day of WBBL|02 action on Saturday, with the Perth Scorchers hosting the Brisbane Heat at the WACA Ground (10am local time), Melbourne Stars taking on the Sydney Sixers in Melbourne from 2pm local time while the Hobart Hurricanes and Melbourne Renegades battle it out in Bendigo (4.10pm).

All matches will be streamed live and free on cricket.com.au, the Cricket Australia LIVE App and on the WBBL Facebook page.
