Wade stumbles, Tasmania crumble

Matthew Wade undone by special outfield catch as Tasmania's batting woes continued in Shield clash with Queensland

Matthew Wade's Magellan Ashes prospects took another hit while Tasmania suffered a post-tea collapse of 8-30 to put Queensland in the box seat at stumps on day two of their JLT Sheffield Shield clash in Hobart.

The Tigers limped to 9-150 in their second innings at Blundstone Arena on Sunday, an overall lead of just 155.

Under pressure to keep his wicketkeeping spot in Australia's Test side, Wade fell for 17 as Tasmania fell apart in the final session.

Wade found the rope with a well-timed cut shot to get off the mark but his 44-ball stay ended to sharp low catch by Michael Neser at fine leg off Mark Steketee.

The 29-year-old has scored just 33 runs from four Shield innings this season, amid calls for Peter Nevill or bolter Alex Carey to be behind the stumps in this month's first Ashes Test.

Veteran quick Luke Feldman finished with 4-31, while Neser picked up 2-19 to go with career-best figures of 6-57 in the first innings.

After bowling out Queensland for 181 before lunch on Sunday, Alex Doolan (58) and Jordan Silk (44) grafted the Tigers to a strong position at tea.

But it all went pear-shaped afterwards.

Captain George Bailey was one of five players dismissed for a duck in the Tigers' innings as they crumbled from 1-92 to 9-122.

The myFootDr Queensland Bulls were earlier bowled out for 181 on the stroke of lunch, five short of Tasmania's first innings score.

Young bats Jack Wildermuth and Jimmy Peirson added 40 runs to an overnight score of 5-79 but were undone by left-arm quick Sam Rainbird.

Fringe Test quick Jackson Bird (3-41) was the pick of the Tigers' bowlers, adding Neser to his Saturday scalps of openers Matthew Renshaw and Joe Burns.

Tasmania were bundled out for 186 after tea on day one after electing to bat on a green-tinged pitch.
