Windies escape after Gabriel's record haul

Fast bowler takes third-best figures by a West Indian in Tests before bad light secures a draw against Sri Lanka

The second Test between the West Indies and Sri Lanka has ended in a draw after the final day at Gros Islet was suspended due to bad light.

Jason Holder's side were 5-147, chasing a target of 296 to win, when play was brought to a premature end.

Shannon Gabriel took 8-62, wrapping up the Sri Lanka innings early in the morning to give him match figures of 13-121.

Gabriel's match figures are the third-best by any West Indian in Tests and the fifth-best by any bowler this century.

Kasun Rajitha struck twice for the visitors, leaving the West Indies 2-8 after 3.4 overs.

St Lucia drama as ICC levels tampering charge

Opener Kraigg Brathwaite held the innings together with an unbeaten 58, putting on 53 for the fifth wicket with Shai Hope who was bowled by Suranga Lakmal for 39.

The draw means the West Indies take a 1-0 lead into the third and final Test which begins in Bridgetown on Saturday.
