Stars lock in two internationals: report

Melbourne Stars reportedly sign two big names as they look to bounce back from last-placed finish in BBL|07

Melbourne Stars have reportedly signed England spinner Adil Rashid and West Indies allrounder Dwayne Bravo as their two overseas imports for the upcoming season.

Leg-spinner Rashid has previously played with Adelaide Strikers while Bravo has played at the other Melbourne franchise, the Renegades, since 2014.

The Stars had two overseas vacancies on their list after English duo Kevin Pietersen and Luke Wright departed at the end of last season.

Pietersen signs off with sensational knock

A report by Fox Sports on Thursday says Rashid and Bravo have been locked in for BBL|08. The Stars declined to comment when contacted by cricket.com.au.

There has been plenty of player movement at the Stars in the off-season, with star batsman Nic Maddinson joining from Sydney Sixers and allrounder James Faulkner departing to sign with Hobart Hurricanes.

In February, Brisbane Heat confirmed they had made an offer to sign star allrounder Marcus Stoinis from the Stars, but that the offer was no longer on the table. It was reported at the time that Stoinis was keen to negotiate a new deal with the Stars, although no announcement has been made at this stage about his future.

The Stars endured their worst Big Bash season last summer, winning just two of their 10 matches to finish on the bottom of the table.

Bravo, 34, hasn't played for the West Indies in any format since 2016 and has long been a T20 gun for hire in domestic leagues around the world.

He was part of the Chennai Super Kings side that advanced to the IPL final this week.

Brilliant Bravo's magnificent blow

Rashid, the ICC's 11th ranked ODI bowler and 14th in T20 cricket, has been a key figure in England's limited-overs sides for several years.

Earlier this year, he announced he had turned down a red-ball contract with his county Yorkshire in order to focus on white-ball cricket.
