Stars outbreak grows but Sunday clash to go ahead

There are now 18 members of the Stars camp with COVID-19 but there are no further changes to the BBL|11 schedule - yet

The Melbourne Stars' clash with Perth Scorchers is still set to take place at Junction Oval later today, despite the fact three more players have tested positive for COVID-19.

Ten players and eight support staff in the Stars camp have now contracted the virus.

The three players who tested positive last night are isolating for seven days, with the Stars to finalise their squad this morning..

They will need to add a number of replacement players from outside their core list of 18 to be able to field a side.

The Stars are also scheduled to host the blockbuster Melbourne Derby clash against the Renegades tomorrow night at the MCG.

A positive COVID test for a member of the Melbourne Stars' support staff forced the postponement of their game last Thursday against Perth Scorchers at Marvel Stadium as officials waited on results from testing of the wider group.

Sydney Thunder's game against Adelaide Strikers went ahead the following day despite four members of the Thunder's squad returning positive PCR tests for COVID.
