Stars, 'Canes handed over-rate fine

Kristen Beams' Stars and Corinne Hall's Hurricanes are the latest teams this season to be fined for a slow over rate

The Perth Scorchers have become the fourth team this KFC BBL season to be penalised for maintaining a slow over rate.

The Scorchers were found to be six minutes, or one over, behind their time allowance in their match against the Brisbane Heat on Friday night.

Captain Adam Voges and the Scorchers players accepted their sanction without appeal, meaning each player had their fine of $1000 each halved to $500. Voges has also received a strike in accordance with the BBL Playing Conditions and will be suspended for one match if he receives another strike.

The Scorchers join the Sydney Thunder, Melbourne Stars and Sydney Sixers in being penalised for a slow over rate so far this BBL season.

The Melbourne Renegades and Adelaide Strikers women's teams have also penalised for the same offence in the Rebel WBBL.

In addition to the slow over rate offences, five players have been charged and four sanctioned for breaches of Cricket Australia's Code of Conduct in the Big Bash so far this summer.

Chris Lynn, Travis Head, Matthew Wade and Nicole Bolton were all sanctioned for varying offences, while the Melbourne Renegades spinner Brad Hogg was found not guilty of a send-off in their match against the Scorchers.
