Henriques signs English county deal

NSW and Sydney Sixers allrounder to join Kumar Sangakkara at English county side Surrey

NSW Blues and Sydney Sixers captain Moises Henriques has signed a deal to play with English county side Surrey this year.

Henriques will join Surrey immediately after his commitments with Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League and will be with them throughout their T20 campaign.

He will also provide cover in other formats of the game for Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara when the left-hander is away on Test duty later in the year.

"I'm really looking forward to playing for Surrey this season," Henriques said.

"It's a club with a proud history and an exciting squad, and I hope to play my part in achieving success this summer.

"I've seen some of the names that are coming to England to be involved in the NatWest T20 Blast this summer, so am looking forward to testing myself against some of the best players in the world."

Henriques guided Sydney Sixers into the final of the KFC T20 Big Bash League, scoring a fighting 77 in their nail-biting loss to Perth Scorchers in the season decider in Canberra.

He scored 245 runs and took five wickets for the season and was selected in the fan's team of the tournament.
