Kulasekara punished for Ronchi send-off

ICC rule right-armer 'aggressively charged' towards batsman after dismissing him

Sri Lanka bowler Nuwan Kulasekara has been censured by cricket bosses after his send-off for Luke Ronchi in the final one-day international against New Zealand on Thursday.

Cricket's governing body the International Cricket Council said Kulasekera's behaviour after dismissing Ronchi in Wellington was "unacceptable".

The right-armer ran down the pitch after bowling the wicketkeeper-batsman, veering in his direction.

He was charged with behaviour that was "contrary to the spirit of the game or brings the game into disrepute", the ICC said.

He "aggressively changed direction towards the dismissed batsman, which was considered unacceptable by the match officials", it said.

"Kulasekara accepted the offence and the proposed sanction of an official reprimand."

New Zealand won the series 4-2.
