Milestone to be reached in Sydney

International summer of cricket to finish with a bang

The T20 double-header in Sydney on Sunday will see the one millionth fan come through the gates for an international match this season.

It will be just the third time in history that international attendance has reached the seven-figure mark – both previous occasions were also Ashes summers, in 2006-07 and 2010-11 – and to celebrate the milestone, Cricket Australia will be giving one lucky fan a great prize, which includes:

-          An opportunity to take part in the KFC Mega Classic Catches Competition at innings break

-          Upgraded seats for the fan and their party at match

-         A corporate hospitality package for the Sydney T20 International match in 2014-15

-          A year’s supply of KFC

This milestone comes on the back of a new all-time Australian single season attendance record (international and domestic) being set at the MCG on Friday night, where over 64,000 fans turned out to see Australia take a two-nil series lead in the KFC T20 Internationals against England. It took the total attendance for the season to 1,636,292, beating the previous record of 1,618,115 in 2006-07.

While both T20 matches tomorrow are considered dead rubbers, pace pair Holly Ferling and Mitchell Starc ensured there will be plenty of feeling out in the middle with comments they made following their respective victories on Friday.

QUICK SINGLE: Stars hoping for mental edge

QUICK SINGLE: Aussies determined to rub it in

The Commonwealth Bank Southern Stars can finish the series with more wins than England, despite already having lost the Women’s Ashes, while the Aussie men are determined to finish their dominant season on a high, especially with the T20 World Cup just around the corner.
