Renshaw named for Sheffield Shield final

Queensland and Tasmania finalise squads for Sheffield Shield decider with young Bulls opener in line to return after concussion

Matthew Renshaw has been named in a 13-man Queensland squad for their JLT Sheffield Shield final against Tasmania but must pass concussion testing to be cleared to play.

The fringe Test opener suffered a head knock in a collision with a teammate during the warm-up before day two of the Bulls' outright win over NSW in Wollongong and was replaced by Lachlan Pfeffer for the remainder of the match.

Renshaw will need to train and pass follow-up testing under Cricket Australia's concussion policy to take his place in the team for the five-day final, which begins on Friday at Allan Border Field.

Pfeffer has also been included in the squad, which is otherwise unchanged.

Day four highlights: Bulls complete epic comeback

"We've effectively used the same squad for the second half of the season and their consistency has been rewarded with a chance to play in the final," Queensland Cricket chairman of selectors Justin Sternes said.

Tasmania have also named an unchanged squad for the trip to Brisbane after securing second spot and a berth in the decider thanks to a comprehensive 156-run win over three-time reigning champions Victoria last week.

The Tigers are seeking their first Shield title since 2012-13, which they clinched with a draw against the Bulls in Hobart.

Since that triumph, they've claimed the wooden spoon twice and finished second-bottom twice in a miserable run that prompted a review of Tasmanian cricket at the end of last summer.

Day three highlights: Tasmania storm into final

"It would be massive deal for the state," Tigers allrounder Beau Webster told cricket.com.au. "Us and the Hurricanes are the only professional sports team in the state so all the locals are quite supportive.

"It's good to repay a bit of faith after five or so years in the wilderness where we haven't even come close to making the final."

Queensland last won the Sheffield Shield in 2011-12 when they defeated Tasmania.

Queensland squad: James Peirson (captain), Joe Burns, Brendan Doggett, Luke Feldman, Sam Heazlett, Charlie Hemphrey, Marnus Labuschagne, Michael Neser, Lachlan Pfeffer, Matthew Renshaw, Mark Steketee, Mitch Swepson, Jack Wildermuth.

Tasmania squad: George Bailey (Captain), Jackson Bird, Alex Doolan, Jake Doran, Andrew Fekete, Hamish Kingston, Ben McDermott, Riley Meredith, Simon Milenko, Sam Rainbird, Tom Rogers, Jordan Silk, Matthew Wade, Beau Webster.
