Coyte announces cricket retirement

World Cup winner calls time on decorated career at age 25

Former Southern Stars pace bowler Sarah Coyte has announced her retirement from all forms of cricket, effective immediately.

Coyte took 100 wickets in all forms of cricket for Australia since her debut in 2010, playing 81 matches in the Test, ODI and T20I arenas.

However the 25-year-old opted to knock back her Cricket Australia contract last summer as she battled with personal issues, and on Tuesday stood down from South Australian commitments.

"I am going home to Sydney to be close to my family and restore some balance to my life," Coyte said.

"I have been realising lately how much I have missed my family and it is finally time for me to go home.

"I am not going back home to play for New South Wales, I am leaving domestic cricket altogether to refocus on myself and my loved ones."

April 2014: Coyte takes three in World T20 final

Coyte was a member of Australia's 2014 World T20-winning squad, claiming figures of 3-16 in the final against England to be player of the match.

She also helped deliver South Australia their first Women's National Cricket League title in 2015-16, in her first season after moving from regular champions NSW, and played with Adelaide Strikers in the Rebel Women's Big Bash League.

The right-armer has recently dedicated her time to raising awareness of body image problems among elite athletes which she has struggled with throughout her career.
