Marsh, Worrall star in England one-day cup

Aussies Shaun Marsh and Daniel Worrall play key roles for their teams in England's 50-over tournament

Shaun Marsh continued his hot form for Glamorgan with a half-century in their opening 50-over cup match, but his county fell to a heavy defeat against Gloucestershire.

There were lop-sided victories in the competition around the country, with Yorkshire running out winners by 142 runs against Durham, while Surrey collapsed to be all out for 129 as Somerset cruised to an eight-wicket win.

In Cardiff, South Australian bowler Daniel Worrall took three key wickets for Gloucestershire, including that of compatriot Marsh for 57, as they completed an eight-wicket win.

Marsh's 57, with six fours and a six from 88 balls, was the top score for Glamorgan in their 264 all out.

In reply, Gloucestershire George Hankins (85) and captain Chris Dent (80) helped make light work of the run chase.

At Durham's Riverside ground, the home team renamed a stand in honour of former Test batsman Paul Collingwood, but the occasion was spoilt by Yorkshire who racked up 4-328 on the back of a blazing 164 from 151 balls by Tom Kohler-Cadmore.

India star Cheteshwar Pujara added 82 as the pair put on a 176-run stand for the second wicket.

Collingwood, who is Durham's leading first-class run-scorer with 11,777 in 218 games, fell cheaply in this white-ball contest and the home side stumbled to be all out for 186, with Adil Rashid taking 4-47.

Yorkshire were captained by veteran fast bowler Steven Patterson after the county announced regular skipper Gary Ballance was taking an indefinite break from the game for personal reasons.

"Captain Gary Ballance is set to miss several One-Day Cup fixtures after the club, this week, granted him some time away from the game due to personal reasons. We ask that his privacy be respected during this time," a Yorkshire statement read.

Ballance had also missed Yorkshire's recent County Championship match against Surrey. It was reported at the time he was ill.

Balance has played 23 Tests and was unused on England's Ashes tour last summer. He was then dropped for the series in New Zealand in March.

At The Oval, England quick Craig Overton set a new career-best limited-overs mark with 4-47 for Somerset as they skittled Surrey for 129 in less than 36 overs.

Johann Myburgh's unbeaten 75 from 65 balls lead the reply for Somerset, who did not include in-form Queensland and Australia batsman Matthew Renshaw in their 50-over team. The visitors reached the target in the 22nd over.
