Marsh's debut ton leads Aussies in UK

Test batsman posts 111 on maiden showing for Glamorgan against Worrall's Gloucestershire

Shaun Marsh followed Australia team-mate Matt Renshaw in making an early-season century in England's County Championship as he marked his Glamorgan debut with an innings of 111 at Gloucestershire on Saturday.

Renshaw made 101 not out on debut for Somerset on Friday and 24 hours later it was Marsh's turn to reach three figures.

Marsh struck 18 fours on a lively Bristol pitch as Glamorgan ended the second day of this Division Two clash on 5-296 in reply to Gloucestershire's 236 all out.

His innings meant Marsh become the 10th player to score a first-class century on debut for Welsh county Glamorgan, a list that includes fellow Australians Matthew Elliott and Mark Cosgrove.

Boult screamer labelled 'IPL's best ever'

Among the other Australians in county action on Saturday, Peter Siddle had a day to forget with Essex, taking 0-40 and making a duck to go with his first-innings top score of 33no, while in the same match, Joe Mennie took another three wickets to finish with match figures of 6-99.

At Taunton, Renshaw couldn't back up his first innings hundred, falling for seven, while Worcester's Steve Magoffin has figures of 1-58.

Playing against Marsh, Gloucester's Daniel Worrall returned the tidy figures of 1-54 from 21 overs, his lone wicket that of his compatriot in the final session.
