SOK silences Nasir as Aussies take charge

Bangladesh batter's cheeky umpire mimicry comes back to bite as home side collapse in their second innings

A day after he cheekily raised the finger in the role of umpire, Bangladesh's Nasir Hossain has been told to keep quiet by the Australians as the tourists stampede towards a series-levelling win in Chittagong.

Hossain stood next to umpire Nigel Llong on day three and in unison with the on-field official gave Pat Cummins out after the Australia was judged lbw on review.

But on Thursday the shoe was on the other foot, with Hossain walking off dismissed to a raised index finger, this one vertical and in front of a closed mouth by left-arm spinner Stephen O'Keefe.

Already on the back foot at 4-43, Bangladesh sunk even lower when O'Keefe found the edge of Hossain's bat through to visiting skipper Steve Smith at first slip.

What followed was O'Keefe motioning to the departing batsman to "shh" as Australia tightened their grip on the second Test.

While Hossain's actions didn't appear to antagonise the Australians yesterday, O'Keefe's actions indicate that perhaps a line was crossed by the young allrounder.

"I wasn't watching, so I don't know much about that," Australia vice-captain David Warner said on Wednesday.

Nasir joins Nigel for umpiring cameo

"It's one for obviously the umpires to look at and deem if it was a send-off or not.

"From my past track records I know that the heat can get to you sometimes.

"I'm not making excuses for him, but yeah."
