Kolkata Knight Riders medium-pacer Suryakumar Yadav has become the fifth bowler reported for a suspected illegal bowling action at the Oppo Champions League T20 tournament, which finished on Sunday morning with victory to Chennai Super Kings in the final.

Yadav was reported in the final, which Kolkata lost by eight wickets, and has been placed on the warning list.

Taking video evidence into account, on-field umpires Rod Tucker and Kumar Dharmasena along with third umpire S. Ravi felt that there was a flex action in his elbow beyond the acceptable limit when bowling during the match.

Under the CLT20 Suspected Illegal Bowling Action policy, Yadav may request an official assessment from the BCCI Suspect Bowling Action Committee.

The 24-year-old is now in a situation where if he receives a report while on the warning list, he will be suspended from bowling in any matches organised by the BCCI until he is cleared.

Yadav is the second KKR player this tournament to be reported, after West Indian spinner Sunil Narine’s much-publicised suspension for the final.

Lahore Lions off-spinner Adnan Rasool was reported for a suspected illegal action while bowling on September 22 against the Knight Riders, while Lions captain Mohammad Hafeez and 21-year-old Dolphins off-spinner Prenelan Subrayen were both reported when the two sides met in the group stages of the competition.
