Aussies unchanged for final two Tests

Australia have named a 13-man squad for the remaining two Tests against India

Australia have named an unchanged squad for the final two Domain Tests following their emphatic win at Perth Stadium.

Victorian Peter Handscomb retains his place in the squad despite a lean run with the bat and questions raised about his unorthodox technique.

Opening batter Aaron Finch, who was forced to retire hurt on day three after copping a nasty blow to his battered right index finger, was declared "fine” by head coach Justin Langer on Tuesday.

Australia have fielded the same XI for the first two Tests, but captain Tim Paine said conditions will dictate the starting sides for the final two Tests.

"Conditions are going to be different at the MCG than they were here and then in Sydney," he said.

"We will have to pick what we think is the best combination to win both of those Tests.

"If it's this XI then great.

"But if we have to make some changes I am sure will talk about that at some stage."

Australia levelled the Test series in Perth with a comprehensive 146-run win, the nation's first since the opening Test of the controversial series against South Africa in February.

Paine said after play on Tuesday he was "relieved" to get his first win at the helm, but that's it back to business when the team reassembles in Melbourne ahead of the Boxing Day Test.

"It's been hard work," Paine said.

Paine immensely 'proud' of Aussies

"The first two Tests of this series have been really, really tough. Both teams have outstanding fast-bowling attacks. It's been a really bruising Test match to be honest.

"We have some really inexperienced players in terms of Test matches played. To get a win like that against the best team in the world is going to give them a huge boost of confidence, no doubt.

"But it means nothing as soon as we get to Melbourne next week at the MCG. It's going to be on again from ball one so we have to maintain that intensity and match India in that area. If we do, we are going to be right in the fight again.

Victoria fast bowler Chris Tremain was in Australia's initial 14-man squad but released prior to the Perth Test.

National selector Trevor Hohns said retaining the group that won in Perth was about maintaining the momentum captured in the second Test win.

"With Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and Peter Siddle in the squad we believe we have enough fast bowlers to choose from, so we’ve made the decision to stick with the 13-person squad for the remaining two Test matches against India."

Australia squad: Tim Paine (c, wk), Josh Hazlewood (vc), Mitch Marsh (vc), Pat Cummins, Aaron Finch, Peter Handscomb, Marcus Harris, Travis Head, Usman Khawaja, Nathan Lyon, Shaun Marsh, Peter Siddle, Mitchell Starc
