NSW Metro win big at U19 Championships

Metro team cruise to big nine-wicket win over previously undefeated ACT/NSW Country side

The two highest-ranked teams in the Under 19 National Championships play off for the Kookaburra Shield today in Adelaide.

The players will face off at Gliderol Stadium, a first-class ground in Glenelg, and home venue for former Australian Test captains Greg and Ian Chappell.

Reigning premiers NSW Metropolitan will have their work cut out for them facing the currently undefeated ACT/NSW Country side, who have won all seven of their matches in 2015.

NSW Metropolitan - who are aiming for three titles in a row - have lost two matches including one against today's opponents, being bowled out for 136 to hand ACT/NSW Country a double bonus point.

In the semi-finals, ACT/NSW Country had a clinical five-wicket win over Victoria Country with Tamworth's James Psarakis top-scoring with 46 from 47 balls while NSW Metropolitan won their semi by two wickets, losing 6-50 as they scraped over the line in a tight finish.

Queanbeyan batsman Henry Hunt has compiled 366 runs at an average of 52.3, including a century and two half-centuries, with Tamworth batsman James Psarakis close behind with 330 runs at an average of 55.

NSW Metropolitan and Under 19 Australia representative Arjun Nair leads the wicket takers for the final with 12 at only 16.3 apiece.

A win for the composite ACT/NSW Country would be the first in their history while NSW Metropolitan are aiming to make it 19 wins from 45 championships.
